Welcome to all returning and new guests!
If I said that I owe my love for hair styling to a late 1970s spring-loaded black 3/4 inch curling iron and a bottle of Paul Mitchell hairspray, that would be partially true. In reality, that iron can’t take all the credit. I started in this industry in the late 90’s in Michigan and moved to San Francisco to attend college and work in a major hair salon in downtown SF. After working briefly in a neighborhood salon, I realized how much I preferred being part of a smaller community with a large amount of small businesses. Since then I have been working in Lower Haight for the past 14 years! I am a devotee to hair history, retro styling and hair cutting, but I enjoy virtually every part of my career. I love to draw from looks of the past and compare and combine them with work that is trending today. For the past several years I have taken styling series courses at Bumble & Bumble University, haircutting courses at Vidal Sassoon, and razor cutting and curly cutting courses with numerous talented local educators. In 2018, I finally got to fulfill a dream of mine when I got to style hair backstage at New York Fashion Week!
My second love is Haircuts. I prefer to cut hair in it's natural state and believe that dry cuts help to render a more balanced result and is more personalized and tailored to fit you. That kind of attention to detail can help fulfill your dream look so bring in that inspo pic! If you don't know what you want, we'll figure it out together. My tool kit and techniques reflect a large list of possibilities for you. Whether it be a razor pixie, a shag, a precision Vidal Sassoon bob or anything in between!
I am just as likely to micro focus on your bang trim or neck trim as I am to listen to your personal styling and lifestyle details. Do you work from home? Blow-dry or Air-dry? Do you love SF nightlife? All these ingredients will help us draw realistic hair goals and help you get a look that you can recreate at home.
Sometimes the only peace and quiet you get in your day or maybe the only time you sit down is at your hair appointment. I pride myself in being receptive to your needs. Conversation is always optional. I love it either way! You can go for a little nap or tell me all about your day. As long as you do what makes you most comfortable.
